Congratulations Sri Lanka!

Congratulations Sri Lanka for eradicating terrorism from the soil of this great nation. It is the bravery and the sacrifices of many unsung heroes and heroines of all backgrounds that made this day possible. You have fought and won a battle not only against the ruthless terrorists head on, but also a war against the dark, unseen forces of international terrorism. You have succeeded where the rich, powerful nations with multi-billion dollar budgets and high tech weaponry have failed. You have jumped over all the hoops, obstacles and accusation that have been thrown at you, and you brought victory while saving the lives of innocent people that have been used as a human shield by the cowardly terrorists. Be proud of your achievements, but also be humble, for our victory came at a cost. As Sri Lankans, we must forgive those who transgressed against us and work towards a United Sri Lanka. We now have to work towards building a country that we can truly be proud of. It is up to all of us, Sinhalese, Tamil, Moslems and others alike, to put our past and our differences behind us and work together, to look to the future with with the determination to make this nation live up to its full promise. Let us stand as one people of one country and be united so that no dark forces can ever divide us, ever again.

Washington wants to reward Terrorists???

Living in the comforts of Western countries, the Diaspora Tamils have abandoned the true victims of LTTE's brutal dictatorship; its own poor and innocent Tamils living the nightmare under the dictatorial leadership of Prabhakaran, the equivalent of Osama Bin Laden in Sri Lanka's war against terror. While the higher caste Tamils have become the spokesman for the world's most ruthless terrorist movement (FBI link) organizing rallies, fund raising events around the world, and practicing extortion to provide the terrorists with weapons to commit unspeakable atrocities, the poor and innocent Tamils have had the misfortune of living under a ruthless dictatorial leader and suffer unspeakable horrors as evidenced by "A long match! Freedom from the Tyranny "

Here is a video announcing the ban of The World Tamil Movement in Canada and an interview with John Tomson of McKenzie Institute discussing the extortion techniques and manipulation of the politicians.

The Humanitarian Disaster that the LTTE has caused in Sri Lanka by taking hostage of their own Tamil people to be used as a Human Shield can be witnessed here in the Al Jazeera video. Yet the likes of Hilary Clinton, not only want to allow the terrorists to escape, but also wants to reward the terrorists by giving into their demands.

Here is a quote from the Washington Times editorial that discusses the hurdles imposed by the US Secretary of State Hilary Clinton in allowing the terrorist leaders to escape.

"The Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam, one of the world's most violent terrorist outfits, are surrounded in northern Sri Lanka and about to be destroyed - but Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton and European self-styled peacemakers are getting in the way of victory. The meddlers should let Colombo finish off this menace."

Having suffered the 911 events on US soil, followed by the two US led wars outside the country in its quest to destroy the terrorist movement, this double speak from Washington is unbelievable. The atrocities of al Quaeda seems like small potatoes, or rather, minuscule peanuts when compared to the atrocities of the LTTE. Yet, Hillary Clinton wants to allow the terrorist leaders to escape.

"We can only imagine American satisfaction if we had al Qaeda in this position. It is unconscionable for the United States to castigate its Sri Lankan ally for prevailing in its war against terrorism. The Tamil Tigers have purposefully created the conditions for a humanitarian crisis and deserve neither amnesty nor mercy. There are ways to help resolve this standoff that will not allow the Tigers to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat, such as providing military and intelligence support for pinpoint strikes against the terrorist leadership. Failing that, the Obama administration should mind its own business. The Sri Lankans are winning; we should let them finish the job." -- Washington Times EDITORIAL: Tigers at bay

Here are the views of the British Parliamentarian Hon. Lord Naseby who visited Sri Lanka.

Here is another interesting perspective on Sri Lanka and LTTE terrorists Paul Harris on LTTE

So, what is behind Hilary Clinton's agenda in allowing the Tamil terrorists to escape? Are we to expect a similar situation if Osama Bin Laden is found and cornered?

Ex LTTE members speaks out

One of my friends sent me this interview of an ex LTTE member named Ragavan, who was a founding member of the LTTE and gives us a window into the inner workings of LTTE through his experience from the early days of the LTTE. This is a very interesting and unexpected interview, coming from a former LTTE member. Particularly noteworthy is the claim that the introduction of district quotas by the government that allowed students from the underdeveloped villages to enter the university, which the Tamil middle classes did not want to acknowledge as it was against their own interests. Also note worthy are the caste issues within the Tamil community that are raised in the article. To the uninitiated, Dalit is a term used to describe the "Untouchables" of the Indian culture; their only crime being born to the "lowest untouchable" caste.

Here is another interview of an ex LTTE member that now speaks against LTTE as the voice of the Tamils

I salute both these brave souls for condemning and renouncing violence that they themselves engaged in the distant past and for speaking with their heart.  Just hope that they will ultimately realize that all these divisions along the race/religion, etc too are meaningless.  We must all stand as people of one country.

Claims of Discimination in Sri Lanka

Genocide and Discrimination, as told by the supporters of LTTE Terrorists are strange and misleading stories; for one thing they are both inversions of Truth. For another, it is the Sinhalese that have felt the effect of both of these as Sinhalese are a minority in the geographic area. I addressed the issue of Genocide in my Open Letter to Dr. Anna Neistat and want to address the issue of Discrimination here.

Discrimination is a broad term, that is used cheaply by the LTTE to fill in the vague and loose terms it uses to invoke human emotions of anger and sympathy, such as in the claims of Genocide. The best a state can do is to pass laws to prevent discrimination and enforce it, such as the USA and other western countries have done. The government of Sri Lanka too has gone out of the way to ensure that the minorities are given a fair chance. Tamils, Moslems and other minorities living in the government controlled areas live a descent life as any Sinhalese and enjoys the same rights as a Citizen of Sri Lanka; in fact, Sinhalese are a minority in Colombo, the commercial capital of Sri Lanka! Tamils and Moslems together control a large part of the Sri Lankan economy; something no other country in the world can claim. Any one can educate their children in any language they please and there are Sinhalese, Tamil, and Moslem schools that teach in their respective languages. Tamils have always been represented in government and some of these brave statesmen have been assassinated by LTTE for not agreeing with them.

However, you cannot take the human elements out that easily as illustrated by many news items such as this one, which occurred in the civilized USA. I have not forgotten, nor do I condone the riots of 1983 which was an ugly response to the ongoing LTTE terrorist violence to break apart the island. That fateful day, all Tamils were judged as LTTE terrorists regardless of their beliefs or allegiances, and was a shameful generalization that should never have occurred. I am ashamed of this dark period and I sincerely apologies to any one that was hurt during these few ugly days in our history. This event occurred quarter of a century ago, and since then the Sinhalese have shown amazing restraint despite the continued loss of innocent lives through escalating LTTE violence and atrocities.

At the heart of the issue is the fact that the Sri Lankan government chose Sinhala as the official language of Sri Lanka after gaining independence from the British. During the British rule, Tamils enjoyed a disproportionately high number of governmental positions due to the "divide and conquer" policies of the British empire. After having gained independence, the government of Sri Lanka felt that it was necessary to have a proportionate amount of Sinhalese be allowed the opportunity to govern their own country. However, the Tamils felt that it would be unfair discrimination for them. Let me point out that this is the case with ANY country in the world; India has Hindi, Pakistan has Urdu, Malaysia has Malay, Iran has Farsi and so on. However, the Tamils somehow feel that this should not the be the case, claiming they are unfairly discriminated due to these "discriminatory policies of the government." The Sri Lankan government has gone out of the way to help appease the minorities by adopting Tamil and English as official languages of the state in addition to Sinhalese. What other country in the world has done that to appease its minorities? Not even in the United States of America, where Spanish is fast becoming a second language, has it been declared as an official language of the state. On the other end of the spectrum you find the Bumiputra movement of Malaysia, whose constitution gives special rights to the bumiputras. Yet, Sri Lanka, that has bent over backwards to please the minorities by adopting 3 official state languages are accused of discriminatory policies. You only have to look at the violence LTTE has inflicted on their own people to realize that these accusations are based on hidden agendas. If LTTE is truly interested in liberating their people, it should take up on my challenge to better the lives of its people instead of fighting a war to divide a tiny island.

What LTTE supporters attempt is to buy time through sympathy so LTTE can be reinforced while the international community seeks to find a political solution to a problem that has no political solution. LTTE has repeatedly broken off peace talks by committing violence against the innocent during the peace talks, showing their reluctance to any peaceful solutions that has been proposed through out the decades. Any attempt to bring about a political solution has the same effect as it had for the past 3 decades; one of exposing innocent civilians to undue hardships and loss of life as evidenced by "How to Kill Civilians in the Name of “Human Rights”: Lessons from Sri Lanka". It is not possible to keep giving away a pice of this tiny island to every minority group in the country, whenever they take up arms. The only solution is to live in unity and realize that we are people of one country, not separate groups. That is not possible for as long as one group clings on to the idea of a separate country and kills innocent civilians to bring attention of the world. The time has come to end terrorism once and for all in Sri Lanka. Any victory in putting an end to LTTE terrorism is a victory for the whole world, not just Sri Lanka, as LTTE is the inventor of suicide bomber techniques and the teacher of terrorism techniques to Al-Qaeda.

War and Peace

A little over half a century ago, Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi (Mahatma Gandhi) broke free from the shackles of imperialist Great Britain, earning India's independence through peaceful means. Following on the heels of Mahathma Gandhi, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr was instrumental in earning the freedom of African Americans, yet again preaching and practicing non violence. Today, an African American man has become the president of the USA, achieving the highest post in the country, if not, the world; a feat that was unthinkable 50 years ago. Contrast the methods of these great souls with those of the ruthless terrorist organization, Liberation Tigers of Tamil Elam (LTTE), and you can clearly see the effects of war and peace.

For well over 25 years, LTTE has engaged in ruthless terrorist acts to break apart a peaceful country to claim it for their own, costing over 70,000 lives to date. LTTE has also actively and successfully run a propaganda campaign to twist the facts to fit their own agenda, calling themselves freedom fighters. Is there such a thing as freedom fighters when they take the lives of innocent people to make a statement? Here is a CNN video of a suicide bombing that took place on the 10th of March, 2009 in Sri Lanka at an Islamic Mosque. This is one of many atrocities omitted by LTTE in furthering their own agenda through violence.

If LTTE is truly interested in liberating the Tamil people, I offer LTTE a challenge... instead of spending the multi-million dollars collected from the Tamils living in the comforts of the western world on weapons for the destruction of human lives, why not spend it on improving the lives of the impoverished Tamil people in Sri Lanka? You don't need to fight a war to divide a small country in order to achieve social equality, as evidenced by history. Instead, lay down you megalomaniac egos and educate your people so your children can have a future, provide them jobs so they can stand on their own legs, and provide them with shelter so they have a place to call their own. Instead of tending to these needs, you have chosen to fight an unfair war that has hurt your people much worse than any other and has wasted that money on destruction and despair rather than on construction and hope. If LTTE is the voice of the Tamil people, take care of them instead of driving them out of their homes for your selfish greed. If countries that are many magnitudes bigger, with larger populations and bigger problems could overcome problems of social inequality through peaceful means, you too can over come it through peaceful means if your cause is a truthful one.

The simple truth is that you have been robbing the Sinhalese of the only piece of homeland and the only future they have on earth, while portraying to the world that you are the one that is disadvantaged. You have tried violence, propaganda and deception for over a quarter of a century and your defeat is imminent today. Why not lay down your weapons and try the peaceful means at least now? Why not give up the idea of divisions and learning to live in unity with peace and respect for each other?

Open Letter to Dr. Anna Neistat

Dear Dr. Anna Neistat,

I came to know about you thru a story about "US Senate Foreign Relations Committee to hear on Lankan crisis" that is scheduled for the 24th of February.

I realize that you have a very difficult job to do; finding a grain of truth among a web of lies and making the right decision with a clear conscience, knowing fully well that the words you speak can have profound impact on the life and hopes of millions. Mistakenly supporting the wrong idea can leave you with a guilty conscience, but supporting the wrong idea knowingly would be a far, far worse blow to your conscience. A story I have read has had a profound effect in my life, and I want to share that with you.

It is said that an enlightened Islamic mystic was to be put to death by stoning due to an unsubstantiated claim by the people. With each stone that struck his body, spilling blood, he started laughing louder and louder. Among the stone throwers was one that knew he was innocent, and threw a rose instead of a stone. At this, the mystic started crying. Seeing what had just happened, the king asked the mystic why he was laughing when stoned and started crying when a rose struck him, to which he replied; I was laughing because these people are stoning me because they are unaware of the truth, but when I was struck by a rose, I knew there is one among them that knows the truth. So I started crying for his soul. Your role is a similar role. Your testimony can stop a genocide or allow it to be continued. I know you know the truth, but will you speak the truth?

Yes, there is a genocide going on in Sri Lanka, but it is certainly not that of the Tamils by the Sinhalese! Sinhalese maybe a majority in the island, but if you look just over 25 miles to the North of the island, there is no doubt that Sinhalese are the minority in the geographic region. The Tamil population of India has overflown into the tiny island nation and the Sinhalese have been the target of systematic eradication by the Tamil LTTE to the tune of the rabbit and the porcupine story. LTTE has ruthlessly attacked, bombed and massacred people in public gathering places, cars, buses, trains, planes and even in sacred religious sites. It is such a ruthless group that is being protected by the Amnesty International and the Human Rights Watch.

Here are the facts from Wikipedia. The Tamil population of India is well over 62 million people and overshadows the Sinhalese population of 14 million by a factor of 4. Any one claiming genocide of the Tamils by the Sinhalese is simply lying and twisting the truth. It is akin to the Moslems of the world claiming they are being genocide by the Jews! In addition, well over a half of the Tamil population of Sri Lanka lives in peace, harmony and prosperity in the government controlled areas, and have succeeded as successful businessmen in the Sri Lankan economy.

The civil war in Sri Lanka has been fought because the of the LTTE's selfish desire to divide up a country that has been called the "melting pot of Asia," out of self serving greed of a few power hungry megalomaniacs that are NOT supported by the majority of the Tamil population in Sri Lanka. LTTE wanted a large part of the country and about 70% of the coastal part of the island for less than 15% of the island's population. If the African Americans or Mexican Americans in the USA started a similar stunt, I don't think the rest of the country would stand idly by. Sri Lanka has been doing just that; trying to make a UNITED COUNTRY FOR THE GOOD OF ALL ITS CITIZENS; nothing less, nothing more.

Sri Lanka is a small country about the size of West Virginia and we cannot afford to be divided in to separate countries. We have to learn to live with each other, but that is not possible for as long as there is terrorism in the country. It took a modern, civilized country like The United States of America, a long time to over come racial tension and social equality. It wasn't too far off in history where the blacks were lynched by the whites for what would be considered minor offenses today. The Tamils of Sri Lanka has fared much, much, much better. There never existed any form of segregation in Sri Lanka. The Sri Lankan economy is mostly controlled by the minorities, including Tamils and Moslems and live in peace and harmony in the government controlled areas. Tamil have always had representatives in the government, and some of these courageous people were assassinated by their own LTTE for supporting a UNITED Sri Lanka. I realize that we have to walk far in search of a solution. When the peaceful negotiations are not honored by the LTTE and blows up bombs in populated civilian areas, why do you still defend them and ignore to speak of the LTTE atrocities, only pointing out what LTTE claims are those of the government? Are you so blinded by those that surround you, that you take their word instead of looking at it objectively? We are a small country about the size of West Virginia, and clearly there is no room for division and we have to learn to live with each other. However, this is not a reality untill we stand united as one nation. Your actions are for nothing other than dividing up a country for the benefit of a few megalomaniacs. Could it have a hidden agenda, such as the discovery of oil???

I was born a Sinhalese, Buddhist, and my parents brought me up to do the right thing, to have the right thought, not to hate or be blinded by greed. Though I've had prejudices of my own, I have tried my best to over come most of it, and I try to treat each person as a person, not as Sinhalese, Tamil, Buddhist, Christian, Moslem, Black, White, Sri Lankan, American, Arab, Japanese, Chinese, etc, etc. Yet I see how people go on dividing themselves into subgroups for the benefit of their own subgroup without thinking about the others. Open your eyes and see it for what it really is. The genocide going on is that of the Sinhalese by the Tamils, aided by the western world thru the Amnesty International and the Human Rights Watch that has been misled by the LTTE propaganda. We are the ones without a voice. We are the ones that have no where else to go. The little bit of land we have in the form of an island is being looted from us by force, aided by the western world!

It is the life and culture of the Sinhalese that has been under attack throughout the centuries, and more recently thru the violence, pretense and propaganda of LTTE and its supporters. The threat of extinction of the Sinhala race/language is documented and is well known to the world, yet no one has chosen to speak for the Sinhala people; only against them. The culture, the language and religion of this endangered Sinhalese must be protected, lest the world may witness the slow genocide of these people by the LTTE Tamils under the blessing of the Amnesty International, the Human Rights Watch and its supporters.

Oscar Wilde said, "The pure and simple truth is rarely pure and never simple." The truth of which is quite apparent in the web of lies and propaganda surrounding the human rights issues of Sri Lanka, woven by the LTTE and its supporters. Finally, please dont forget, it is the one who knows, yet stands idly by, or worse, promotes the wrong doers, that is the worst kind of offender of his own self conscience and that of human justice. May you have the courage and the wisdom to speak the truth, whatever it may be, not out of self interest, but out of a clear conscience.

LTTE Atrocities

The reason why I started this blog is because LTTE has very successfully been spreading its propaganda to legitimize its terrorist organization by making them look like the innocent being harassed and murdered by the Sinhalese. They have even claimed genocide (my response here), despite the fact that Tamil population in the region is at least 4 times as bigger than the Sinhalese. I believe that we all should learn to live in peace, but that is not a reality until terrorism of all kinds have been put to an end. Being a country about the size of West Virginia, there is absolutely no room for division. We have to learn to live in peace with each other.

What Sri Lanka needs is unity not division, peace not terrorism, love not hatred, communication not propaganda. Let us stand united as Sri Lankans, not be divided and conquered by the power hungry megalomaniacs who want to divide this beautiful island for their own benefit. We need the world to know the true face of LTTE, that is the teacher of terrorism techniques to Al-Qaeda which has become the imitator and the mass producer of the techniques invented and pioneered by the LTTE.

Please note that these links contain graphic content and are extremely disturbing.

Here is a PDF of the atrocities committed by the LTTE , which is a ruthless organization that has massacred innocent people in buses, trains, public gathering places and even sacred religious sites.
